Dale Pinnock BSc (hons), PgDip (Nutr Med)
Nutritionist, Sunday Times Best Selling Author, TV presenter and Broadcaster
I have been in the Nutrition industry for over 26 years now. Thats a scary thought!! Like most people, I discovered nutrition due to my own health issues.
I had really bad acne from the age of about 10 or 11. It started early, it was full on and it was persistent. I went to so many specialists over the years and had every conceivable medication, lotion and potion and nothing really made much difference.
I was 15 years old, sat round at my friend's house one night moaning about my skin, when my friend's mum gave me a book called 'Fit for Life' by Harvey Diamond and said to me "unless you look after what is going on on the inside, nothing will change on the outside". I read this book, the lightbulb came on, and I was hooked.
Fast forward about 10 years and I was at University studying for my first degree - Human Nutrition, I then went on to do a second degree in Herbal Medicine at the University of Westminster, and after a few years working running my own private clinic, and working in the supplement industry, I went on to do a Post Graduate Diploma in Nutritional Medicine at the University of Surrey.
The places that my work has taken me have been a real joy. I am a Sunday Times best selling author of 18 books that are available in 19 languages in 22 countries. I am a regular on TV talking about nutrition and healthy eating. I often pop up on shows like 'This Morning and 'Lorraine' on ITV, and am a presenter on ITV's popular prime time show 'Eat Shop Save'. I also do a lot of radio and print based media.
My biggest love and passion is educating as many people as possible about the power and effectiveness of nutrition as a valid part of the health care picture and how it is the one key way that we can actively engage in our own healthcare every single day. I feel that evidence based, detailed yet approachable nutrition education is one of the key ways to notably improve public health. Whether it is through a book, a TV appearance or one of my online programmes, I want to help as many people as possible access this vital information and be able to put it to use to improve their health a little bit each day.
